Episode 1 - The Sun in a Bottle

The wizard Catweazle is in the process of perfecting a spell to enable him to fly when a group of Norman soldiers find the cave where he lives. The intruders try to capture Catweazle but he evades their clutches only to be cornered outside by the soldiers. With a last-ditch effort to escape, the blundering wizard tries the spell once more as he jumps into a lake flapping his arms wildly. When the wizard surfaces he finds himself in a pond in the middle of a field, instead of flying Catweazle has been transported nine hundred years into the future. He finds shelter in a barn to be shortly discovered and befriended by a young boy nicknamed Carrot. The bewildered wizard has lots to learn about his new surroundings and how to use electrickery to put the sun in a bottle.

Carrot thinks it is about time that Catweazle had a bath as he smells. During his soak Catweazle is discovered by Theda Watkins the Bennet's housekeeper, the wizard is startled by this invasion of privacy and uses an invisibility spell so she did not and cannot see him. Sam Woodyard, the farm handyman is more difficult to deal with though, as the vagrant wizard makes his escape.
Episode 3 - The Curse of Rapkyn

Mr. Bennet offhandedly remarks there could be a curse on the farm causing all its problems. This gets Carrot thinking, so off he goes to see Catweazle about lifting the curse. The pair visit the local museum to look at the old books to see if there are any answers, whilst they are there Catweazle steals one about magic. In the old book Catweazle finds the curse that could be affecting Hexwood Farm.
