Psychiatrist Dr John Frame is asked by Detective Inspector Slinn to help him with a case involving a suspected murderer. The police cannot find much information about the man they have in custody, they also cannot get much sense out of him. The suspect tells the Psychiatrist that his name is Wilfrid Connor, he was born in 1969 and the present year is 1996. This cannot be correct as the year is 1969. Conner goes on to tell the Psychiatrist that those killed were in fact Venusian space creatures. Someone is in a fantasy world that is for sure, maybe a yellow pill will help sort out this mystery?

Robopsychologist Dr Susan Calvin's expertise is needed on Hyperbase Seven in the area of Saturn. Major General Kallner has a crisis on his hands - one of his subordinates named Black, who dislikes robots, became annoyed at one of them and told it to "get lost". Of course, that is exactly what the robot did, amongst twenty other identical robots which are destined for Hyperbase Forty One.
