Episode 1 - Lisa - Code Name Yvette

Lifeline, a Brussels based resistance organization run by Lisa Colbert, helps allied aircrew evade capture and return home. The organisation is helped by Albert Foiret, the owner of the Café Candide and his mistress Monique Duchamps. The café is a handy place where the members of Lifeline can meet to discuss plans and exchange information without arousing any suspicions. Their efforts are to become even more difficult with the arrival of a ruthless SS Sturmbahnfuhrer Ludwig Kessler who has been assigned to Brussels. Along with this advent, Flight Lt John Curtis has been sent by the British Air Ministry to help coordinate the resistance organization's activities. Lifeline is less than ecstatic about their new addition.

Lifeline has the problem of an increasing number of allied aircrew in need of safe shelter and guidance as the Gestapo search for them. All the resistance can do is send them down the line even though the allies are not ready, with the high likelihood of them being captured. One of the evaders, a Sergeant Walker, is captured and taken to the Gestapo headquarters where, in a bid to avoid being interrogated, throws himself down the staircase. As the Sergeant is recovering from his injuries and eventually escapes the German's clutches, Lifeline has to decide what to do with him.

Flight Lt John Curtis learns of the use of colour-coded ration cards for the systematic deportation Jews from Brussels and becomes involved in the plight of a Jewish family in hiding. To aid the Jewish family Curtis asks Lisa to help get them out but she refuses on the grounds of the risks involved. Lifeline face another crisis, forged Belgium banknotes Curtis has had circulated could put their operation in danger.

A number of recent events unsettle our friends in Lifeline, arousing their suspicions that there may be a traitor in their midst. Custis is in the best position to investigate and decides to start by finding out exactly who tipped off the germans about the rescue attempt on Peter Romsey. Some of the members of Lifeline also suspect Curtis, as he is the new boy, so Monique is sent by Albert to tail him.

Natalie and Alain's suspicions are raised as to the authenticity of a South African radio operator's claims of belonging to the allied forces. The two members of Lifeline, unable to verify his account make the decision to kill him in case he is in actual fact a Nazi spy. The young airman, seeing that he has not convinced his interrogators, tries to escape as well as taking Natalie hostage.

An SS officer named Ernst Stoller is ready to infiltrate Lifeline - his chance comes when a Wellington bomber crashes killing all five crew. Kessler takes this opportunity to inspect the bodies at the crash scene to find a swap of identity for the SS officer. Lifeline soon gets to hear of an airman in distress, leaving Monique in charge as other Lifeline members try to verify if this man is who he says he is.
